FAQ

Auto Wireless Connect: This is easiest for newer printers. Choose "Network (Ethernet/Wireless)" and "Yes, send my wireless settings to the printer (recommended)" during setup and installation. The network connection is automatically configured. Older printers and networks may not be compatible.

Wi-Fi Setup Wizard: Place printer near router. Go to "Setup" or "Network Settings" on the printer's control panel or touchscreen. Click "Wireless Setup Wizard," select your Wi-Fi network, and input your password. Wait for connection confirmation.

If your router and printer support WPS, press the wireless router's WPS button. In two minutes, hit your printer's WPS button. Let the automated connection finish. Successful Wi-Fi connections have solid lights. This method doesn't require network passwords.

HP Smart App: Install HP Smart. Follow the app's instructions to connect your printer to WiFi. The HP Smart app simplifies connection.

Page count, not ink usage, determines HP Instant Ink's monthly printer subscription. Printing is simplified and may save money.

HP printers monitor ink usage automatically. You need an HP printer with internet access to participate.

Low-ink HP cartridges are shipped automatically.

Ink usage is not considered when choosing a plan based on monthly page count. Monthly plans cost $1.49. Usually $16 for 10-15-page packs.

Flexible plans: No cancellation fee.

HP provides prepaid cartridge recycling envelopes. Over 962 million Original HP Ink and Toner cartridges have been recycled with HP Planet Partners.

Not ordering ink when low. HP knows and will share more.

Not buying cartridges individually may save money.

Environmental Benefits: High-yield cartridges reduce plastic waste and shipping emissions.

HP Instant Ink targets small, predictable HP original ink printers. Instant Ink works with most 5-year-old HP Wi-Fi printers. The printers are "Instant Ink ready" or "Enabled". The service works exclusively on HP printers with HP Original ink and toner.

These steps should fix HP printer paper jams:

Turn off and disconnect the printer. Ensure the printer is off and unplugged for safety.
Opening the cartridge access door checks for stuck paper.
Paper Jam Removal: Gently remove printer paper. Pull slowly and horizontally with both hands if possible.
Check Input/Output Trays: Remove input and output paper.
Examine Printer Base and Rear Access Door: Open rear and transfer doors to remove jams easier. Use caution to remove paper from printer rear. Some versions require gently flipping the printer on its side and opening the bottom panel to remove paper.
Clean the pickup roller to avoid jams. Let the roller dry for 10 minutes after carefully wiping it with a lint-free cloth in distilled or filtered water.
To reset the printer, reconnect the power cord to a wall socket and the printer after 60 seconds. Restart the printer.
The HP Automated Virtual Assistant can solve paper jams.
Contact HP Support: Please contact HP Customer Support if the issue persists.

Ink cartridge installation for HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 series printers:

Lift the cartridge access door from the front. Wait till the carriage is quiet.
Release the cartridge by pushing in on the front, then remove it from the printer. Reserve the cartridge for recycling. Read about recycling HP ink cartridges at hp.com/recycle.
Remove the replacement cartridge from its packaging.
Hold the cartridge by its sides and slip it into its slot, matching the carriage letter to the cartridge letter.
Click the cartridge into position by pushing it forward.
Replace other cartridges as needed.
Continue printing after closing the front door and lowering the cartridge access door.
These instructions apply to HP OfficeJet Pro 9010, 9020, 9010e, and 9020e printers.

Using the HP Smart app to connect your HP Envy 7555 printer to Wi-Fi is easiest. So how:

Download and install HP Smart from your device's app store (Windows Store, iOS App Store, or Google Play for Android).

Turn on your HP Envy 7555 printer.

Click "Add Printer." on the HP Smart app. App instantly finds nearby HP printers.

Choose a Printer: Select your HP Envy 7555 from the recognized printers and follow the on-screen prompts.

Choose your Wi-Fi network (SSID) and input the password.

The app should provide a confirmation message and allow you to print after connecting.

If you don't want to utilize the app, you can connect via the printer's control panel's Wi-Fi Setup Wizard or Wireless Setup under Network or Wireless settings. Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) is another option if your network supports it.

To refill HP Smart Tank ink tanks (500, 600, 670, 720, 750, 790, 210, 520, 540, 580-590, 5100, 6000, 7300, or 7600 series), follow these steps
Open Front Door and Ink Access: Lifting ink door. To fill, open the ink tank cap.

Ink bottles are opened by twisting the lid and setting it aside.

For flip-top bottles, twist the lid off, remove the seal tab, discard the seal, replace and tighten the lid, and flip open the lid.
Fill Ink Tank: Color-match ink bottle and tank. The bottle tip should fit over the tank nozzle. Drain the tank to capacity with ink. Do not squeeze the bottle. If bottle doesn't drain, remove and reinstall.

Stand the bottle and close the lid after filling the ink tank. Close the ink tank cap securely. Repeat with other colors if needed. Close ink tank lids and access door. Finally, close the front door.

Store leftover ink bottles in a cool, dry area. To fill tanks, use open ink bottles and keep them away from kids.

Your printing output and habits determine how often you refill HP Smart Tank ink tanks8. Certain clues can help you decide when to refill:

When ink levels are low, your printer may display a warning or alert message on the screen or software.

Some printers' displays or software can monitor ink levels. Ink tank lights and paper sensors are built into HP Smart Tank printers.

Visual Inspection: Most refillable printers include an upper and lower line in the ink tank to show fill level1. If ink falls below the line, refill. Ink tanks are normally on the printer's side, making ink levels easy to see.

Print Quality: Patchy or faded colors indicate low ink.

A refillable printer can print 5,000–7,000 color pages between refills with a full ink tank1. Remember that HP Smart Tank printers have 100 ml black ink tanks and 70 ml color tanks. Print quality and ink per printout affect ink usage.

Connecting a Laser Printer to an Android Tablet or Chromebook:

Android users can install or update the Print Service Plugin from Google Play. The main print driver is this plugin.

The plugin should activate after installation on Android 7 (Nougat) and later.

Go to Settings, search for "Print Service," and tap "On" in Android 6 (Marshmallow) and earlier.

Connect your printer and Android device to the same Wi-Fi network. If your printer and Android device support Wi-Fi Direct, try it.

Open the item to print, click the three-dot menu symbol, and select "Print." Preview the print.

Select a Printer: Choose your printer from the list using the down arrow. Wi-Fi Direct uses "DIRECT-xx-[your printer model name]", and network printing uses "[your printer model name]".

To change print settings, tap Print after tapping the down arrow.

The Smart Print app connects several laser printers to Wi-Fi networks.
